Second Topic: Federalism

The second topic that was investing to me was Federalism. Federalism is a government system where authority is divided between two sovereign levels of government. There are three governments the federal, state, and local government. There is a separation of power between the National Government which is also the Federal Government and the State Government. There are three types of Federalism. The dual Federalism, Cooperative Federalism, and Fiscal Federalism. Dual Federalism is the idea that a precise Separation of National and State Power was both possible and desirable and was called the "Layer Cake Federalism." Cooperative Federalism is the National, State, and Local levels to work together to solve problems, which is called "Marble Cake" Federalism powers. In addition the Constitution divides powers into three different levels of government. There are three categories the Expressed Powers, Reserved Powers, and Concurrent Powers. Expressed powers are given to the federal government in the Constitution. Reserved Powers are powers reserved to the state and Local Government. Furthermore, the federal government cannot interfere in the powers reserved for the state  government. Concurrent Powers are snared by both the federal, state, and local government. And lastly Fiscal Federalism is the spendings of the federal funds on programs running  parts of the state and local.
The Federalism unit was one of the topic that most interested for me because it showed how the government worked. For example I was able to learn the three main types of federalism which are  federal, state, and local government. And I was able to see what each government was able to do. And I was able to learn about the "Layer Cake Federalism" and the "Marble Cake." One cake was about to work together to solve problems and the other cake was what states wanted to become. Overall, this unit was very helpful to understand federalism.
